THIS JUST IN...
It has come to The Commish's attention that there was some significant action in one particular Week 7 match-up. I'm speaking of the match-up between The Travelin' Man manager, Brian Hanley, and The House Of Pain co-managers, Jayne and Bobby. These two teams have a side-bet history dating all the way back to 2011. And before you can understand the magnitude of last weeks bet, you must first know about last years bet.
You see, also on Week 7 last year, these two teams went up against each other and placed a bet. Only a few short weeks before Thanksgiving, these two teams decided what better wager than betting a 20lb turkey to the winner. Brian lost this bet 49.93 to 59.45. But did he send the Walsh's the Butterball they deserved? No. He did not.
A year has passed and Brian has not sent a turkey north for the winter. That being said, The Walsh's offered Brian an out. This year, double or nothing... only it's ham. That's right. If Brian was to win, his debt would be wiped clean and he would not longer be on the hook for the 20 pound gobbler. But if Brian were to lose this one as well, he'd be in deep for not just a 20lb turkey... but a 20lb ham as well! (spiral cut, of course) So who won between these two teams? Well, by a score of 72.23 to 55.43, it looks like the Walsh's will have yet another thing to be thankful for this year... a beautiful baby, and Brian treating to most of the Walsh Thanksgiving.
So remember, if you place a bet, make sure to pay your bet. Otherwise the Fantasy Football Karma Gods will not be kind to you.
Happy side-bets everyone.
Sincerely,
The Commish

The Welcome Back Edition
-->
TOP STORY: We’re
back! – The ref strike is over.
Elizabeth and Ricky’s wedding is over. It’s time to get back to football! At
least for me it is. Some of you, have never lost focus on football. Bob,
Christi, Uncle Joe, and Jayne & Bobby clearly know what they’re doing. I’d
like to say I can blame my lack of focus thus far on prepping for Baby Hanley’s
arrival, but Jayne and Bobby are doing the same for Baby Walsh and yet they’ve managed
to go undefeated thus far. So that’s it. No more excuses! It’s time to play
some football! It’s still early in the season. Everyone still has a chance at
this thing! (Well, everyone except The White Lion. He’s 0-6 and has no chance.)
COMMISH
HOUSEKEEPING-
Trades vs. Moves
It’s around this point in the season where people start to
ask, “How many trades do we have?” Trades between teams is unlimited, meaning
if Uncle Kevin wanted to trade Dan Marino to Uncle Bill for Derek Jeter, he
could do so without it effecting his number of trades. “Moves” however are a
different story. You only have 15 “moves” all season. A “move” is when you pick
up a player that is currently not on anyone else’s team. Once you’ve done that
15 times, you’re done. Some of you are already at 9 moves.
Commish Questions
Some of you think the best time to reach out to your
commissioner with questions is anywhere from an hour to five minutes before the
1 o’clock games on Sunday. Shockingly, this is usually not the best time. My
advice is check your line ups sooner than 5 minutes before kickoff, that way if
you have any questions about trades or picking up players, there will be time
to address them. Questions are welcome, and I’m happy to help out in any way,
but you’ll have better luck if you get to me earlier in the week. Again, I am
happy to answer questions. If you have a complaint, as always, please see Uncle
Jimmy.
KEY WEEK 7 MATCHUPS –
Matchup #1 – The Travelin’ Man vs. The House of Pain. Pretty much every match-up the undefeated Walsh’s are
in right now is going to be a key matchup. Everyone is looking for them to lose
a game. While Yahoo projects it to be close, my money is on the Pain Train to
steamroll over the 2-4 Travelin’ Man.
Matchup #2 –
Herbivores vs. The Silver Fox. Matchups between siblings are always ones to
watch. Yahoo has Bob favored to win, but this reporter has it on good authority
that Bob has been focusing his attention on swimming rather than football.
Plus, the Bouchard’s are still on a high from the honeymoon and nothing can
stop them.
Matchup #3 – The Hackers
vs. Weheartkevinbacon. This matchup is huge! Right now it looks like
Mickelly has this one well in hand after putting up over 29 points on Thursday
Night’s game. However, if Bryan and Ellen can figure out how to log on to Yahoo
and change their lineup, they may have a chance. Right now they have 3 players “starting”
that aren’t playing.
SIDE BETS – Any side bets this week?
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!
Sincerely,
The Commish
